Launch of Brisbane’s boutique $200M Newstead Series

Brisbane’s Lord Mayor, Councillor Graham Quirk, has officially launched the Newstead Series, a $200 million boutique residential project which has attracted a mix of downsizers and young professionals who are seeking luxury residences in the affluent Newstead House precinct.

John Livingstone, Managing Director of JGL Properties, said buyers were attracted to the development’s quality design, architectural features and connectivity to the Gasworks and James St lifestyle and retail precincts.

“Aside from the prime location, buyers are purchasing because they believe in the boutique nature of the project with an authentic community where people are proud to live. They’ve told us they love the half an acre of ground level subtropical landscaped gardens and amenities given back to residents, and the commissioning of renowned local artists to create bespoke artworks.”

With over 65 different townhome and apartment configurations, functional and generous designs, expensive glass facades and useable outdoor living spaces in every residence, Newstead Series is truly boutique.

Lord Mayor Quirk said Brisbane is emerging as a New World City and attracting investments such as the Newstead Series, which is contributing to the vibrant character of Newstead.

“This popular inner city location is realising its potential after a long period of urban renewal, with world-class residential projects such as this, making Newstead a highly sought after area,” Cr Quirk said.

“Newstead Series will take advantage of the great Brisbane lifestyle, with direct access to corporate employers, dining, shopping, parklands, the river, proximity to the CBD and Airport and other key transport infrastructure including the upgraded Kingsford Smith Drive, CityCat services and high frequency CityGlider buses.

“Not only will Newstead Series deliver quality apartments, but it will also create 400 local jobs during the construction phase of the project.”

John Livingstone said the high quality team behind the development included ASX-listed builder Watpac, the world’s most sophisticated body corporate owner and asset managers JLL, capital partner Thakral Capital, awarded architects Bureau Proberts and interiors by New York’s 26 Street Design.  This collection of best-in-class players has given buyers even more reason to invest in the project.

“What is attractive about the Newstead Series is the unique way it intertwines the area’s rich history and environment with its New York-inspired townhomes, integrated urban scale artwork and expansive private gardens and recreation spaces for the active local demographic,” said Mr Livingstone.

“The development is essentially a collection of boutique buildings that delivers exceptional value in the exclusive owner occupier Newstead House precinct, coupled with direct connectivity to the rapidly expanding Gasworks precinct.

“The Newstead Series is a highly successful project that is meeting the growing demand for luxury inner city living. Our buyers are attracted to the sense of community, spacious apartments, privacy, first class amenities and sought after river lifestyle connectivity. This is a place where Brisbane people want to live,” Mr Livingstone said.

The Newstead Series comprises four boutique buildings – The Carlyle, The Donaldson, The Ajax and The Koerstz – which were named after Australia’s famous wool presses. The buildings are brought together by half an acre of subtropical landscaped gardens and amenities including a 25 metre pool and spa, sauna, gymnasium, alfresco dining areas, fire pit, outdoor cinema, recreational lawns and exercise spaces.

The project is scheduled for completion in 2017. Newstead Series is being developed by JGL Properties with capital partner Thakral Capital. Tessa Advisory is the principal sales agent for the project.
